Special Report regarding attempted murder and shooting near cnr Cassien and Balwin Streets Schoemansville.
At 2.38 am this morning a member of the community in Cassien St observed on his street cam monitor three male suspects walking along Cassien St whereupon they entered an empty stand on the same street
At approx 2.50 am Mr Kobus Bekker returned from work whereupon he walked on foot to investigate a commotion inBalldwin St. A suspect jumped over a wall into the street and was surprised by Mr Bekker. A scuffle ensued during which Mr Bekker was shot in the left upper arm. The suspect disappeared into the night. It is believed that three shots were fired of which two were in quick succession.
Mr Bekker was taken by ambulance to Total 4 way crossing where he was airlifted by Medvac helicopter to Milpark Hospital. His condition is described as serious but stable.
The area of the incident was cordoned off by Schoemansville Neighbourhood Watch and shortly thereafter by Police. An intensive search ensued whereupon no suspects could be traced. A blue bag containing housebreaking equipment and a shoe was found near the scene and sent for forensic investigation. No cartridges were found on the scene.
