Police arrest wanted suspect
BRITS- A 38-year-old suspect, linked to an estimated 16 cases of housebreaking, theft and theft out of/from motor vehicle committed since March 2013, is expected to appear before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 26 November 2019, on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property. The court appearance stems from his apprehension on Sunday, 24 November 2019, at Melodie, situated on the outskirts of Harbeespoortdam.
According to information available at this stage, it is alleged that information was received, leading the police to bushes at Melodie, where he was intercepted. Furthermore suspected stolen items were found in his possession, which included a plasma television screen, remote control and various groceries. The suspect could not give account of the items in his possession and was immediately arrested.
Moreover Police conducted preliminary investigation, which led to the recovery of more property at a house in Phomolong in Attridgeville. This recovery included two plasma television screens, jewellery, clothing, two cell phones, two grinders, a toolbox, car battery, numerous tools and a mountain bicycle.
The police are urging members of the community, particular living in Hartbeespoortdam, who were victims of house breaking and theft and theft out/form motor vehicles, to come forward in order to identify their stolen property.
