Special Report – Wood Sellers

Special Report – Wood Sellers.

During a combined operation this morning between SAPS members Capt. T Scanlen, W/O A du Toit, Res/Const. M. Schwartz, Rustenburg Mounted Unit ( 8 horses and riders) , Dept of Forestry, Sanral, and at least 10 members of Sector One neighbourhood watches, an estimated 15 000 bags of illegally chopped wood was confiscated along the R511 between Melodie and Ifafi.

According to Dept of Forestry the sellers did not possess permits to sell this wood.

It is believed that most of this wood came from trees illegally chopped down on the slopes of the Magaliesberg.

It is hoped that this will send a clear message to those involved in destroying our local indigenous trees.

Well done to all those whom assisted in this operation. Your efforts are indeed appreciated.
